CMAJ: Canadian medical schools slow to integrate health informatics into curriculum

Interesting article in the CMAJ about Health Informatics in medical schools:

In a world where Canada will spend billions to computerize all health records by 2016, it seems almost simple minded to ask if Canadian medical schools have begun training their students in how to create, understand, and make best use of that data.

Simple minded in theory, but when a quartet of researchers at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia surveyed 16 of Canada’s 17 medical schools, they discovered th

Hi Chris,

The Health Informatics forum grew up well but it needs to undergo specialization process. I think promoting the formation of specialized groups for business or research objectives can help. This can enhance this small society by bringing real world research and professional projects to the forum. If you agree with me on this as the next maturation step , lets encourage members to do so.

These groups will need more features to collaborate. If NING provides that, this can happen here or they may link a proper portal to their workgroup here.

Thank you

I saw your message asking for forum moderator. I have experience in moderating forums and am especially adept at filtering out spam, malware, junk mail and phishing sites.

As a matter of fact, I have brought your attention to several such spam / junk mails in Health informatics Forum in the past, if you check through the archives.

So if you need my services, just email me.

Dear Chris,
I am new to this sector...I am now going to do a masters project in Health Informatics as part of my M.Sc Health Informatics. Can you please suggest me if the topic that I have planned to choose is an acceptable one.
The topic is Critically analyse the merits and de-merits of Health informatics in health care especially in Intensive care nursing.
If not can u please suggest me some as I have broadly no idea about the subject yet (to be frank!!).

Many Thanks
Jiffy
