EMR: The electronic record of health-related information on an individual that is created, gathered, managed, and consulted by licensed clinicians and staff from a single organization who are involved in the individual’s health and care.
EHR: The aggregate electronic record of health-related information on an individual that is created and gathered cumulatively across more than one health care organization and is managed and consulted by licensed clinicians and staff involved in the individual’s health and care.
however , EMR software collects a patient medical records such as laboratory , Imaging , pharmacy and etc , but it implement and use in a single Care Delivery Organizasion ( CDO) .
when we collect data of a patient from different CDO , in fact , we use EHR software because we follow our patients in CDOs with their problems and health data .
in other hand , you can not collect health data of humans ( EHR) ,without implementation EMR software in different CDOs.
Indeed, there are several interpretations to what EMR or EHR stand for. What really makes me said is that we still see several companies using fancy and complex explanations simply to make a software more expensive. Hopefully, clarifications like we see in this blog will help us to see that not only price determines if a solution is the best option or fit for a certain practice. I am amazed how certain doctors still think that for a program to be good it has to cost a lot.
